Talk of the Town
We consider Urban Design to be all of the good stuff we do, just downtown! We particularly enjoy helping out in the revitalization of downtown space all over California. We have worked on parks, playgrounds, streetscapes, historic preservation projects, planning work, public outreach, workshops, public surveys, way finding, public art, etc. We work very successfully with a number of municipalities, understand their issues, and process projects with very little issue. Time, money and the absence of any headache, that's what we are all about.
Designlab 252 is particularly proficient at Transportation Oriented Development (TOD). This current thinking in land planning centers around specific design principals to create sustainable projects with vitality. Principals like functionality, market flexibility, open space, balanced and integrated uses, safety, and character. Its core focus is on connectivity accessing as many modes of transportation as makes sense. The company recently won First Place in the TOD Design Competition sponsored by Caltrans and the City of Fresno for their redevelopment plan and design of The Manchester Center.
